Asian countries are fond of Green and White Tea. It is one of the most ancient drinks, and China is called its homeland. Although today, England is unofficially considered one of the world’s most “tea” countries. The British managed to turn the tea-drinking procedure into a ritual that competes in beauty with an authentic tea ceremony in China.

Brief History Of Tea Fragrances
In ancient times, the sage Ta-Mo had a righteous goal – to preach Buddhism, so he traveled around the East. When he came to China, he made a vow: for seven years to diligently meditate for the glory of the Buddha without sleep and rest.
During meditation, he indulged in reflections on the incomprehensible mysteries of being. But five years later, the dream still broke the zealous sage. Waking up, the sage was very angry with himself. Lamenting his weakness, Ta-Mo cut out his eyelids and threw them on the ground. In the place where the eyelids of the sage fell, an unusual bush grew.
Freshly brewed leaves of this bush helped the sage drive away sleep and complete the work he had begun. In those distant times, tea, as a healing drink, was consumed by the rulers of the East. This noble drink gave strength, strengthened eyesight, relieved fatigue, and was part of various ointments.
In the 10th century, tea became the national drink in China, and only six centuries later did it reach Europe. It was brought there by Portuguese and Dutch sailors. What exactly from the Netherlands? The tradition of drinking tea after dinner spread throughout Europe.
Both black and green tea is made from the same Camellia sinensis plant. The only difference is how the tea leaves are processed. But yellow and white tea is produced only in some provinces of China, so they are expensive and elite teas.
The aroma of tea in perfumery is quite an exciting direction. The tea notes in the fragrances give the composition purity and sonority or convey this aromatic drink’s smell. The peculiar pleasant smell inherent in different types of tea could not pass by the attention of perfumers who “brew” it in exquisite bottles.
For perfumery, the development of leaf brewing technology is more interesting, as how the smell changed during this. Here are the main milestones: the period of hot tea during the era of the Tang Dynasty, which ruled from 618-907; the frothed tea period in the Song Dynasty from 960 to 1279; the brewed tea period ending with the Qing Dynasty until 1911.
All three methods are available to modern man. Fans of Tibetan and Mongolian teas are adherents of the first style of making a drink. Those versed in the Japanese tea ceremony can only prepare whipped tea. Most people today insist on a drink. All these options have found their interpretation in perfumery.
Having become our daily routine, tea accompanies us everywhere and seems more a sign of Western culture than its ancestor – the Great Chinese Empire with its hard-to-understand philosophy. The use of tea aromas in perfumery began in 1993.
At that time, perfumer Jean-Claude Ellen created an original fragrance for the Bvlgari brand called “Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert.” Many other perfumers followed suit. The Demeter fragrance library contains a whole collection of tea-based compositions. In rectangular bottles, different tea aromas are stored: hibiscus, earl gray, green, chamomile, coriander, and many other teas.
Since 2012, Tea fragrances have received a new wave of popularity. Perfumers no longer limit themselves to green tea. Everything valuable and fragrant sooner or later ends up in a perfume bottle. In this field, tea, unfortunately, has had its unsweetened share.
